Wai'ao is located in Toucheng Township, Yilan County, and is named after the bay outside of Wushi Harbor, which is divided into two parts: Da'ao and Xiao'ao. Its coastline is narrow and long, and its large, flat, and clean beaches and bays are its most distinctive feature, with Guishan Island faintly visible in the distance, making it a favorite sea for family members to play in the water and for surfers to enjoy the sunshine, play on the beach, and do water sports. It is also a popular spot for surfers and wakeboarders, making it a great place for the whole family to spend some quality time together.
